The TAL high voltage passive filters are made up of filtering capacitors, filtering reactors, discharge coils, disconnect switches, and lightning arresters, and  mostly used in electric systems at 6, 10, 27.5, 35, and 110kV.  Connected to the electric grid through a circuit breaker, the complete filtering set is able to supply fundamental frequncy reactive power to increase power factor, and is also able to refrain curent harmonics from flowing into the system to reduce the harmonic distortion at the common access point.  The TAL HV passive filters are especially suitable for relatively stable load such as electrolysis and silicon iron furnaces.  However, in combination with thyristor-controlled reactors (TCR), or thyristor-controlled high-impedance transformer (TCT), or magneticall-controlled reactors (MCR), the TAL can perform static var compemsation (SVC) for quickly-changing load such as rolling mills and hoisting equipment.
